Concannon Vineyard Pinot Noir Central Coast Limited Release 2006

Member Review by Philip James:

Cerryies and oak on the nose, its very acidic, but not out of balance. Sour cherries dominate. Too oaky for me. I forgot i'd had this before, so its interesting to see I gave it the same rating.

They could speak, the rocks of Concannon Vineyard would tell a tale rich in history. Concannon’s treasured contributions to winemaking have positioned it as landmark winery with an enduring commitment to creating outstanding, award-winning wines. We have a history of proud firsts. We were one of the first wineries to pioneer Bordeaux and Rhone-styled wines in California. We are the home of America's first successful Irish vintner, the world's first Petite Sirah and world-class wines from our fruitful, rocky soil. As a founding family of California wines, Concannon created the hardworking Cabernet Sauvignon Clones 7 and 8, which helped plant much of Napa in the 1970s. Pioneering founder, James Concannon, began making wine in the Livermore Valley in 1883. Now, his passion for family and fine wine is evident in every aspect of Concannon Vineyard and we’re fortunate to share it with you today. Read less

Extremeley high acidity here, a great food wine. Raspberries and blueberries on the mouth with some spice and a light leathery finish. Paired with chicken fried rice, but would be versatile with many medium or light dishes. My main gripe is i thought the acidity was too high and muted some of the fruit. Tasted 24 hours later: somehow the fruit had improved, so i bumped up my rating 0.5 points

Very light and fruit forward wine. Not offensive in any way, easy to drink and good on its own. Very good for people who may not enjoy red wine so much.

Wanted to try something new, this wine was good enough, but not outstanding. It'll do the trick for a casual dinner with friends.

A bit thin. No real depth of flavor. Overly peppery for a pinot noir. Dissappointing.

Wine Tasting Notesa typical, coolclimate wine that is smooth, aromatic, intensely fragrant, and deliciously crafted. Richly plum in both color and fragrance, this medium-bodied Pinot displays vibrant aromas of black cherry, ripe raspberry, and strawberry as well as bright red fruit flavors that are balanced with hints of tar, leather, and vanilla. This Pinot has an interminable finish.

Light-bodied. Aromas of violets, cherries and spices, with flavors of bing cherry and raspberry and hints of cola.
