Carmen Carmen Syrah Gran Reserva Colchagua 2008

Winemaker's Notes:

Viña Carmen was founded in 1850 by Christian Lanz, who named the winery in honour to his beloved wife Carmen. More than a century later, in 1987, the Claro Group acquired the brand to take it into a new direction. In 1992 a new winery was built and new vineyards were planted, to produce the best quality wines from Chile, and export them worldwide. Carmen has been recognised for its quality and for being a pioneer in the Chilean wine industry. Additionally the winery has been the lead producer of wines from organically grown grapes through its Nativa brand. The grapes for this Gran Reserve Syrah are sourced from their vineyards in the granitic south facing hills of Apalta. The nose is very expressive, it offers an exciting flavor of plums, black cherry and peppermint, mineral character. On the palate is offers layered, powerful and remarkably complex structure; enjoy it with red spicy meats, seasoned dishes and strongly flavoured cheeses.
