What Happened

Posted by rckr1951, Sep 8, 2018.

Several topics have been deleted and several more aren't functioning properly with several reply posts lost.  Did a search for Weekend Wines and tried respond and nothing happened - should have gone to the top of the list.

Is this an IS/IT problem or is it hackers?

Don't know, I lost a total of nearly 2,000 and Big Al lost nearly 1,500.  No reason was given, ever.

Eh, who knows. I don't look for the post counts but it's good to see some folks still around here!

I've just been really busy with work and moving around CA and such, so don't post as much and when I see this place covered in spam, I sometimes bag it.

But Zuf even showed up!!! Awesome.  Hope everyone's well. Heading to Paso Robles to see what's up over there.

I'll second that, would love to hear your thoughts on Tablas Creek wines.

Great potential up there (Paso Robles, that is).  Would like to see more wines available in regular wine shops ... outside the region, that is.  The region seems heading toward a rather "Rhone Ranger" style, but that is quite fine by me.  Real Estate - the last time I looked which, admittedly, was about 3-4 years ago - was also reasonable.

Anyway, folks, try to ignore the spam or deny the spam posting (if you are enabled, as some of us are) and just keep chatting.  You are all still quite entertaining, and entertainment can't be all bad, can it?

;-)

Spam doesn't really seem to be a problem anymore.

Love Saxum wines - Rhone Ranger.  Seldom buy them anymore since their prices went through the roof - but do I love the memories of them.

The wines are so reasonable it’s hard to complete with the Rhône

Amazing how Rhone wines have maintained their relative affordability - even in North America.  This is surprising given that some of the wines - Chateauneuf de Pape (white and red both), Cote Rotie, Condrieu and even Hermitage have become somewhat pricy - although not so much as comparable Burgundy or Bordeaux - where the Chinese have decided to invest.  PS - don't tell them about the Rhone...

Paso Robles red is a good alternative, though, with more intense flavours than most ordinary (even village named) Cotes-du-Rhone.

BTW - wrt spam... it is not quite so bad, although I am kicking them out every time I sign on... just so you know about the heroics.

I am happy that no one is responding to Gregory - Keenan Winery - current post.  Keep it that way.

Oh I was going to ask him all about Keenan Wines.  I think he's said before that they're really good!  ;)

Yep!

But as far as visiting Paso Robles - it's pretty remarkable what's going on there. I'm heading back soon. The wines are more diverse than what you tend to find in Napa and while they're not all successful, I give them credit for trying many different varieties. There's a lot of Tempranillo, not all wonderful, but give them time. There obviously a lot of Grenache, thanks to Tablas Creek, and a lot of it is really good. There's also Carignan, Mourvedre, Zin, and a lot more and there are some really good blends people are trying out.

The interesting thing about the region to me, is that the wines apparently keep their acidity really well. There are a number of high and low spots so I guess if you pick your site carefully, you can turn out some good stuff.

God - Everything is really good for him.  Makes me wonder he'd do without talking points.

I am very OK with Gregory.  Things are are actually wine-oriented are appropriate on this forum--even shills.  Over the years more than one winery, winemaker, salesmen have made appearances, here,
